How is New Wave Swim Club, Inc. organized on an operational
level?
New Wave Swim Club, Inc. is a local
not-for-profit swim club affiliated with New England Swimming and
USA Swimming which has been incorporated with the Office of the
Secretary of State for the
Commonwealth
of
Massachusetts
. It is a parent run organization headed by a nine (9) member Board
of Directors. Other than coaching staff, all positions and duties
of NWSC are strictly volunteer assignments performed by friends and
parents of our athletes.
Does New Wave Swim Club offer alternatives for children
interested in swimming but not quite ready for competitive
swimming?
Yes. For younger swimmers who are interested
in the excitement of competitive swimming, New Wave Swim Club
offers a pre-competitive program focusing on improving technique in
the four competitive strokes (backstroke, breast stroke, butterfly
and freestyle), flip turns and racing starts. Practice runs
year-round according to our short course and long course
competitive programs.
How can I view all the areas of the New Wave Swim Club
website?
You may have access and view all areas of the
New Wave Swim Club website by becoming a member of the team. In order to maintain privacy, access is
strictly limited to swimmers and families currently enrolled with
the team. Once an athlete joins the team they will be provided a
user name and password to access all the private areas of the
website.
When is New Wave Swim Club, Inc. having tryouts and
registration?
Typically, the team will schedule registration
and tryouts at the start of the short course or long course
seasons, in September and April respectively. However, our team is

throughout the year. If interested,
please do not hesitate to contact a member of the coaching staff
via the web page to schedule a time to meet the coaches.
Have the coaches been CORI checked?
Yes.

Yes. New Wave Swim
Club requires that all swimmers be outfitted in team cap, team
suit, team T-shirt (long or short sleeved) and team shorts. New
Wave swimmers are expected to wear the team clothing at all meets.
The club provides order forms for team members and takes
responsibility for ordering and distributing the equipment. Orders
are usually placed at the beginning of each season. All items must
be paid in full at the time the order is placed. Equipment is not a
profit making venture for the club and any savings from
supplier’s special rates are passed on to our families.
Please review the required equipment section of the website which
is located in the Team Information section off of the main menu.
Must my child be USA Swimming registered, even if they are not
going to compete in meets?
Yes. A swimmer
must be a registered athlete with USA Swimming as a prerequisite
for training and/or competing with New Wave Swim Club. Swimmers not intending on entering meets must
still be USA Swimming registered.
How does New Wave Swim Club group the athletes on the
competition team?
New Wave Swim Club groups its swimmers into
three (3) separate programs: Age Group Program: For swimmers still
mastering the rigors of a multi faceted workout or just moving up
from the pre-competitive program. They spend time mastering stroke
technique and drilling skills so they will be comfortable applying
these techniques during races. Training is also supplemented with a
modified dry land program. The Age Group program is further divided
into three levels to maximize the training and provide the swimmers
with attention and training appropriate to their level. Recommended
training is 4 days per week, 2 to 2.5 hours per session. The Age
Group Program typically trains at the
University
of
Massachusetts

Lowell
. Junior Program: For swimmers well versed in technique and
strategy and a skill level competing within New England Regional
time standards. Recommended training is 4+ days per week and
emphasizes endurance, stroke perfection, starts and turns. Training
is supplemented with cardio, flexibility, abdominal exercises and
weight training. The Junior program is also further divided into
three levels to maximize the training and provide the swimmers with
attention and training appropriate to their level. Recommended
training is 5 days per week, 2.5 to 3 hours per session. The Junior
Program typically trains at the

of swimming and workout ability. Recommended training is 6+ days a
week for 2.5 to 3 hours per day. Training emphasizes stroke
perfection, endurance, mental preparation, and more advanced race
strategy. Training is supplemented with an individual dry land
program including cardio, weight training, and abdominal exercises.

Lowell
High School
pool.
